Course Description:
This industrial electrical training course is a hands-on basic electrical theory seminar that will provide the
student with a thorough introduction to AC and DC theory, electrical circuits, and drawings. Students will gain
knowledge of electrical equipment construction, operation, and application in industry. This seminar will be extremely
helpful to individuals who are just beginning a career in electrical work, or who require a basic knowledge of
electrical principals and equipment to better their primary responsibilties. This seminar is an excellent prerequisite
for the all of our other electrical seminars.
Curriculum:
Basic DC circuit theory, Ohms Law, voltage,
current, resistance, electric power, series, parallel, and series-parallel
circuits. Introduction to AC circuit theory, inductance, capacitance,
and impedance. Single and three-phase AC power. Introduction to basic
test equipment. Introduction to electrical equipment: transformers and
motors. Introduction to system protection: fuses, circuit breakers,
and overload relays. Introduction to motor control. Reading electrical
drawings and schematics. Electrical safety.
Who Should Attend:
Electricians, Plant Mechanics, Service Technicians, Maintenance Supervisors, and Plant
Engineers
Equipment Requirements:
Small hand tools including wire cutters, wire strippers, flat and phillips head screwdrivers, small needle nose
pliers, a hand held calculator, and a multi-volt-ohmmeter.
